Internet connection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
For the internet connection, as long as you have a decent broadband connection, you\u2019ll be fine, the key factor here could be the latency, which is basically the response time between your terminal and the server of the broker. You can easily check your latency with free tools like Speedtest<\/a>, as long as you are below the 100ms threshold, you can rest assured, your connection is suitable for running the terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The cost of such an internet connection ranges depending on where you are and what service providers are in your area. I’m in a fortunate position as I have a fairly stable and fast connection with Vodafone, which costs me about $25 per month for an unlimited plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As for the computer, the point is to have a silent, low-consumption unit. I have my own from ASUS, I strapped in some quality brand memory and an SSD, and I have never had any issues whatsoever. The goal here is to have a computer that doesn\u2019t overheat or freeze randomly, and it\u2019s capable of running the operating system without failure for extended periods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In terms costs, this in the range of about $300 if you want to buy everything brand new, but you can also go bargain hunting online for some deals or even buy something used. Personally, I have this little computer sitting at a remote location, and I just log in whenever I want to check up on it. It is safe and bothers nobody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Look around what ASUS has in store now in the mini PC range here: ASUS NUC 11 Essential Kit<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The broker you choose is of utmost importance. There are countless of forex brokers promising you to be the best, but actually quite few can say that they have a decent operational history, fair prices and satisfying server speeds. The main point here is that the broker needs to offer the leverage which is necessary for running the RFT EAs. The Ranger, the Vigorous and the Sharpshooter all need at least 100x<\/strong> leverage accounts to work properly. Many brokers don\u2019t have this option due to different regulatory conditions. Vantage<\/a>, however, is a broker that has all the above checked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Good speeds, reliable operation, amazing prices, and leverage options up to 500x<\/strong>. I had my fair share of unpleasant experiences with other brokers, but I never had any issues with Vantage<\/a>. Currently the only available bots are the Vigorous<\/a> and the Sharpshooter, as far as I know the Ranger will be back in the shop soon with some other products as well. In terms of costs, the full price is $499 each, but keep in mind that this is excluding taxes. So if you are based in Europe for example, you can expect the VAT rate to be added on top of this price. However, there are discounts and deals every now and then, so make sure you apply the discount codes if you come across any of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I really admire the work Ryan puts out there. It’s all about honest and straight forward talk, no BS or anything that would suggest dishonesty about what results you can expect from using the bots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some rather advanced pieces like the PowerHouse<\/a> will also be released soon, which contains all the different EAs in one massive combined package. The price will probably be a bit higher than the standalone algos, but considering the value one gets for that money, it is easy to see that it is the best price\/value ratio in the market, easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Get the EAs here: responsibleforextrading.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Finally, the funds. You can top up your Vantage<\/a> account with basically any means, you can use bank transfer or card payments, or my favorite: crypto. This is the best thing ever, it works 24\/7, there are no limitations regarding transferred amounts, and it is basically free to deposit your funds like this. The minimum amount to start with is a $1.000, but this is the lower limit set by the trading bots, and not the broker, just to be clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you use Vantage as a broker, you will have the option to use a wide range of options to deposit your investment funds. I personally use crypto, as it is free, instant, and safe to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Once all 5 requirements are met, we can get down to business and start the configuration of the terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n OK, now Metatrader5 is loading up as it is supposed to. A quick check at the account status at the left side panel, if MT5 is connected properly to the account opened at Vantage<\/a>, it will show the account number and the name of the account holder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Next thing to do, is to fund the account that we have just connected to Metatrader. You can use any means of payment, from cards to bank transfer even crypto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If everything is set up perfectly, you will see your account number and name popping up in the Navigator pane on the left side, under Accounts. Once your deposit is cleared with the broker, MetaTrader5 will also show your available balance that is tied to your account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Time to install RFT trading bots. To do that, go to File, Open Data Folder, or use the shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In this folder open MQL5, Experts, Advisors. As you can see, here are the default EAs that come with Metatrader, we are not going to use these. Nonetheless these are good indicators that this is the folder where we need to place files received after purchasing the bots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Unpack the files you have received when you bought the EAs from Ryan webshop. Once extracted, you can simply copy and paste the *.ex5 files to this folder. After you have copied and pasted all the bots you want to use, MT5 needs to be restarted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After the restart, all the Expert Advisors should be visible in the Navigator pane under the Advisors tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The next step is to open up the currency charts. To reveal all the available currency pairs, I need to right click on the default list, and select the Show All<\/em><\/strong> option. Here we go, now all the available trading pairs are visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the Ranger, you will need the British Pound v Canadian Dollar pair with the plus sign after it, and just simply drag and drop to the main chart window. The timeframe should be set to 30 minutes as per the instructions by Ryan. For better visibility, feel free to turn off the grid overlay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now select the Ranger EA from the Advisor List, and also drag and drop on top of the GBPCAD chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This little popup window appears, you will need to check these two options. In the inputs tab, I can manually override the configuration, but more importantly, this is where I register the license key that was delivered with my order. I double click the field, and just paste my serial number, and hit OK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Quite quickly the visual panel appears on the left side, this is what tells me that the EA has been loaded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the top right corner there is this little graduation cap, that is currently greyed out, we will come back to that later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I will repeat the exact same steps with all the other currency pairs, the next one is the AUDCAD. This one needs to be on the hourly chart, so I am setting this to H1. Drag and drop the Ranger designated for this pair, allow these options, enter the license key, and hit OK. Here we go, the panel loads up, top right corner shows the name of EA, so we\u2019re good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The next one should be the Vigorous, for that we will need to open up the EURUSD chart, drag and drop to the main window, select the minute chart, so M1 and drag the Vigorous on top, tick the boxes, paste the license key, and hit OK. Since it\u2019s the minute chart, it might take a while for the panel to load up, but I\u2019m sure it will be fine in just bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the meantime I\u2019m going to launch the Sharpshooter, again EURUSD pair on the 15 minute chart, drop the EA on top, tick the boxes, enter the serial number, and hit OK. The panel loads up, everything is set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Let\u2019s check on the Vigorous how the panel looks like, sometimes it can take a moment, oh here it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is an optional bot as well, the Gopher, which comes free with the Sharpshooter, this runs the GBPUSD pair on the minute chart, so drag it to the main terminal windows, select M1, and drop the Gopher EA on top. Tick the boxes, paste the key, click OK. Let\u2019s wait for the panel to load up, and here it is. Let me just drag this window down a bit to see everything like this. And now really all the EAs and trading pairs are ready to launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We have the 2 Rangers, the Vigorous, the Sharpshooter and even the Gopher are set up, but one crucial indicator shows that they are not running yet, which is this little graduation cap, which grey. To press the ignition button on all of these at once, what I need to do is go to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tools -> Options -> Expert Advisor tab<\/p>\n\n\n\n And make sure that this checkbox saying \u201cAllow algorithmic trading\u201d is ticked. I click OK, and look what happens. Suddenly, the little cap lights up, it means that the bot is actually online and running. If just quickly shuffle through these pairs, I can see all of them have now an active EA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now all of these bots are running on default settings, they are doing their job. However, in some cases there can be a need for optimization, and that\u2019s where set files are coming handy. Set files are included with your purchase, it\u2019s part of the zip file. It\u2019s really easy to load up, all you need to do, is double click on the upper right corner on the name of the EA, and in the configuration panel you can simply load the preset files that will optimize the settings based on what results you are looking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mind you this mostly an optimization step, I never really used these set files in the past, I will probably load them up once my account reaches a certain size, but for now, I\u2019m absolutely fine with the default settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now the bots are fully in operation, all I have to make sure is that the terminal is always running, always connected to the internet, and the rest is up to them. Every day I get a report of the report on the opened and closed positions, and the closing P&L of the given day. It\u2019s a great feature from Vantage<\/a>, helps you stay away from staring at the screens all day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now that I mentioned Vantage<\/a> \u2013 make sure you take advantage of all the bonuses they offer. The best one is the deposit bonus, where they provide you a certain amount of credit after your first deposit. Not that you\u2019d ever need it, with these bots, but still it\u2019s a nice gesture. There are also different activity bonuses every now and then, so just take a look every month or so to see if you are eligible for some additional cash vouchers or anything like that. If you keep the bots running for a long time, you will accumulate enough traffic to get something nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alright, so this was the tutorial for setting up a trading terminal and running autonomous trading bots by Ryan Brown from Responsible Forex Trading.
